Eczema is a catch-all phrase for several skin problems. These include “contact dermatitis,” a skin reaction to an allergen or harsh substance, but eczema around the eyes is usually “atopic” dermatitis, meaning the skin reacted without any direct contact. This skin condition most often shows up in babies and children.
