Your doctor may be able to diagnose nummular eczema by asking you about your medical history and visually inspecting your skin. They may also want to perform a skin biopsy to help rule out other possible conditions, such as an infection.

During the biopsy, the doctor will remove a small piece of skin tissue from the affected area. The sample will then be analyzed for the presence of bacteria.

If your doctor suspects the lesions are a result of an allergic reaction, they may perform an allergy test as well. This may include skin tests or blood tests that can help determine what substances youre allergic to, if any.

There isnt a cure for nummular eczema. However, you may be able to manage your condition by making certain lifestyle changes and avoiding triggers.

To help control your nummular eczema, you should avoid:

• wool and other irritants that may trigger your symptoms
• excessive bathing and hot water
• using harsh soaps
• exposure to environmental irritants, such as household cleaners and chemicals
• using fabric softener and dryer sheets
• getting scrapes, cuts, and abrasions on the skin

The following can help relieve your eczema:

• using moist bandages to cover and protect the affected areas
• taking antihistamines to relieve itching and discomfort
• applying medicated lotions or skin ointments, such as corticosteroids
• getting ultraviolet light treatment for severe itching
• hydrating skin with a non-scented moisturizer after showering

Abnormal Bleeding Under The Skin

Leukemia disrupts the bodys production of blood cell platelets. Platelets are what help the blood to clot and to stop abnormal bleeding. When platelets become low, bruises can happen more easily. Leukemia bruises might resemble a normal bruise, but you might find there are more of them than usual. Sometimes, theyll occur in an unusual area of the body, like the back. 3

Symptoms Of Discoid Eczema

Discoid eczema causes distinctive circular or oval patches of eczema. It can affect any part of the body, although it does not usually affect the face or scalp.

The first sign of discoid eczema is usually a group of small spots or bumps on the skin. These then quickly join up to form larger patches that can range from a few millimetres to several centimetres in size.

On lighter skin these patches will be pink or red. On darker skin these patches can be a dark brown or they can be paler than the skin around them.

Initially, these patches are often swollen, blistered and ooze fluid. They also tend to be very itchy, particularly at night.

Over time, the patches may become dry, crusty, cracked and flaky. The centre of the patch also sometimes clears, leaving a ring of discoloured skin that can be mistaken for ringworm.

You may just have 1 patch of discoid eczema, but most people get several patches. The skin between the patches is often dry.

Patches of discoid eczema can sometimes become infected. Signs of an infection can include:

• the patches oozing a lot of fluid
• a yellow crust developing over the patches
• the skin around the patches becoming hot, swollen and tender or painful
• feeling sick
• feeling unwell

Causes Of Discoid Eczema

The cause of discoid eczema is unknown, although it may happen as a result of having particularly dry skin.

When your skin is very dry it cannot provide an effective barrier against substances that come into contact with it. This could allow a previously harmless substance, such as soap, to irritate your skin.

It’s important to look carefully at all the chemicals in cosmetics and toiletries that may have come into contact with your skin. Contact dermatitis, a type of eczema caused by coming into contact with a particular irritant, may have a role in discoid eczema.

Some people with discoid eczema also have a history of atopic eczema, which often happens in people who are prone to asthma and hay fever. However, unlike atopic eczema, discoid eczema does not seem to run in families.

This skin condition often begins as small raised solid bumps that look like pimples. As it progresses, these bumps turn into patches of swollen and hard skin. The patches can be yellow, reddish, or brown.

You may also notice:

• The surrounding skin has a shiny porcelain-like appearance
• You can see blood vessels
• The skin is itchy and painful
• The skin disease goes through cycles where it is active, inactive, and then active again

Heat Rash: Symptoms And Treatment

Also called prickly heat, this rash, is a harmless but very itchy and can affect large areas of the body. Its caused by a blockage and inflammation of sweat ducts during times of exposure to heat and high humidity and is very common in children.

Tips For Reducing Outbreaks

Here are a few ways to prevent eczema flare-ups and manage symptoms:

• Apply cool compresses to your skin, or take a colloidal oatmeal or baking soda bath to relieve the itch.
• Moisturize your skin daily with a rich, oil-based cream or ointment to form a protective barrier against the elements. Apply the cream right after you get out of the shower or bath to seal in moisture.
• After you bathe, gently blot your skin with a soft towel. Never rub.
• Avoid scratching. You could cause an infection.
• Use fragrance-free detergents, cleansers, makeup, and other skin care products.
• Wear gloves and protective clothing whenever you handle chemicals.
• Wear loose-fitting clothes made from soft fibers, like cotton.

How Is Nummular Eczema Treated

Nummular eczema can look like psoriasis, ringworm, fungal infection and other types of eczema, including atopic dermatitis, stasis dermatitis and contact dermatitis. It can also occur along with those types of eczema, though it often appears as an isolated condition. Dermatologists can usually spot the condition but may take a skin scraping to confirm a diagnosis.

Once correctly diagnosed, nummular eczema tends to disappear completely with the right treatment. However, unlike some other forms of eczema, nummular seldom improves without relatively aggressive treatment.

Like atopic dermatitis, patches of nummular eczema are often infected with Staphylococcus aureus , which needs to be treated along with the skin inflammation to clear the condition.

Nummular eczema can be treated with a mid- or high-potency topical corticosteroid, along with a topical antibiotic. If eczema patches are substantially weepy and oozy, application of an astringent compress can help dry the area and drive out any staph infection.

People who have leukemia are prone to skin-related problems. These range from rashes to bruises and are commonly seen in both children and adults.

When discussing how is leukemia diagnosed and what are the early signs on leukemia you may have heard of leukemia spots. But what do leukemia spots look like and how do you know if its that or a common rash?

Lets take a closer look at what leukemia is and what you can expect in a leukemia rash, so you can know when its time to seek medical help.

S Of Sarcoidosis On The Skin

Raised patches, deep lumps, or open sores

This is a common sign of sarcoidosis. The medical name for this sign is lupus pernio.

Unlike other signs that develop on the skin, this one only appears in people who have sarcoidosis. African American women are most likely to see this sign on their skin.

The patches and deep lumps tend to be red or reddish-purple. Some feel scaly.

Lupus pernio often appears on the nose and cheeks, but it can develop elsewhere. Some people get it on their lips, ears, fingers, or toes. While the patches and lumps are noticeable, they rarely cause any symptoms, such as pain or itch.

Common signs of sarcoidosis are raised patches, deep lumps, and sometimes open sores. The medical name is Lupus pernio.

Treatment is important, though. The patches can grow together, forming one large lesion that covers the nose and cheeks. If this happens, lumps and sores can develop inside the nose, causing nosebleeds and crusting around the nose. Without treatment, the lumps may spread to the respiratory tract, which can make breathing difficult or impossible.

Smooth bumps or growths

This is another common sign of sarcoidosis, especially among African American women. The medical name is papular sarcoidosis.

These bumps and growths tend to clear on their own without causing a scar.
