Is Wearing Makeup A Sin For Me As I Suffer From Eczema
These are a few of the most commonly asked questions by distressed women with eczema. Although, eczema does forbid one from wearing any makeup of their choice, but going with the right makeup, choosing the right combinations, ingredients and products can be generous to the skin.
Eczema condition is surely not favorable for women who cherish putting makeup but this definitely doesnt signify that they relinquish on makeup. There would be many products in the market that might flare up the condition but several ingredients can be gentle to your skin.
It is important that you have a know-how of the ingredients that would favor or are gentle to the skin instead of agitating it. If advocated, no makeup is 100% safe for the rough, dry, patchy skin, however, replenishing the skin can help make it look healthy and glowing.
Before choosing any suitable eczema friendly makeup for the skin type, it is important that some trial is done. A product might be gentle on ones skin but react on someone elses skin. It is recommended that the product is initially applied on a patch of skin before using it on the face.
Most dermatologists lay emphasis on selecting makeup brands that are moisturizing in nature and keep the skin hydrated. Another advice imparted is to look for eczema friendly makeup, hypoallergenic marked products, which are specially formulated for sensitive skin.

Best Cream: Cover Fx Total Cover Cream Foundation
This product also does double-duty as a foundation and concealer, and it can provide full coverage with just one layer. Along with vitamins C and E, the formula also contains the lesser-seen vitamin F, which contains anti-inflammatory properties and helps maintain hydration levels, thus soothing irritated skin. And it’s enriched with squalane, a fatty molecule that has been clinically shown to reduce redness and swelling. Free of talc, fragrance, parabens, mineral oil, and sulfates, the foundation likely won’t upset delicate skin. Another perk? It “comes in a variety of shades to suit all skin tones,” Zeichner says.
the Cover FX cream foundation has been their “holy grail foundation for years.” They continued: “I use G70 and it’s a perfect match for my skin tone. I suffer from eczema pretty bad on my face, and it occasionally gets red and splotchy on bad days. This covers it right up without feeling heavy or drying, or tight. I find that if my skin is having a good day, I don’t need as much, and it makes my face look flawless. My skin is on the drier side, so if you have oilier skin, it might move on the skin quite a bit, I’d recommend a good setting powder.”

I recommend buying the travel sized version first just to see if you like it, because the full-sized version is pricey!

What Are The Benefits Of Using Foundation For Sensitive Skin
Well, if you have eczema-prone skin like me, the main benefit is being able to use a complexion product without the risk of a flareup. For example, the skin around my eye area is super sensitive. If I use the wrong product whether it be skincare or makeup I can pretty much expect to be adding a hydrocortisone cream to my regimen for the next week. However, I can safely use this product around my eyes, and remove it, without even the slightest tingle.
Aside from the obvious, what I also love about this product in specific is that it’s more like a second skin rather than a mask. So it’s perfect for both the traditional makeup lover, along with those who prefer to not do a full face.
In addition, this foundation also offers:
- Weightless buildable coverage
- 12 shades for every skin tone
- Easy application

What Actually Is Eczema
Defined by distinct patches of rough, dry skin that is often red and scaly, eczema is a non-contagious skin condition that is sometimes referred to as atopic dermatitis. Often its most distressing symptom is a gnawing itch that accompanies these patches, which can appear all over the body. When eczema is very active, it may also become moist, crusted or weepy, says dermatologist Dr Justine Kluk. The skin can also eventually become thicker and darker in areas that are repeatedly scratched. Atopic eczema is the most common form of the skin condition, though others include contact dermatitis and seborrheic dermatitis.

I Typically Use A Liquid Foundation What Do I Need To Know About A Powder Formula
Well, for starters, aside from one offering a dry formula versus wet, when it comes down to results, you won’t notice a significant difference. However, if you tend to have oily or acne-prone skin, a powder foundation may help to control shine.
In terms of application, using your finger to apply a powder foundation can be less than ideal. So you’ll want to ensure you’re using a brush to apply. Thankfully, the brand offers their Iconic Flat Blending Brush, which is the perfect pairing for the Powder Foundation.
Speaking of which, according to The Good Mineral’s founder Ego Iwegbu, it’s best to dap, rather than do long strokes, to avoid irritating the skin through friction.

How To Wear Makeup With Eczema
Step 1- Its essential to prep your skin by thoroughly cleaning and hydrating it with products that are packed with hydrating ingredients that calm the skin. If youre on a prescription for eczema , apply it before using any makeup. Also, always do a patch test of any new makeup product on your neck before applying it to the face.
Step 2- You can use a primer to seal your pores so that the foundation does not make it into your pores.
Step 3- It is best to start off with eye-makeup so that any chunks of eyeshadow on the cheeks can be cleaned and then covered with other makeup products.
Step 4- Apply your foundation with clean hands instead of brushes or makeup sponges as they tend to harbor germs. If youre trying to hide dark circles, you can also use a concealer.
Step 5- Even for blush, use your fingers as its easier to press out to blend until you have the color you want. You can use a brush for highlighter if youre using one, as a highlighter may require more precision while blending.
Step 6- Once your makeup is in place, you can finish it off with a lipstick of your choice.
