How I Healed My Eczema Starting With Food

The first thing I concluded: my diet was awful. I was just starting to learn about the human microbiome in-depth at LSU but there was so much not covered in class. The age of microbiome health was just beginning as I was graduating. Luckily, I graduated with a skillset in microbiology to understand what was going on in my own body. I was able to understand the complexity and importance of my own microbiome in my health.

So the first thing I changed was my diet. When I was in college, my roommate and I loved to eat hot wings, pizza, mac and cheese, corn dogs, and bagels. Wed eat this way after putting away a bottle of wine obviously not good for skin, gut health, or mental health. You live and you learn though.

I tried to be healthy during my time in college, but I had a convoluted opinion on what healthy means. On top of the steroid cream and staph on my skin, I was exacerbating my symptoms by eating food I am severely intolerant to. My bowel movements were never optimal. I didnt want to believe I needed to give up my favorite foods: cheese and bread and hot wings. But I did over a span of three years.

Besides food, one of the hardest things I had to relearn is what true skincare really is. My main hindsight pro tip: if youd be poisoned from putting it in your mouth, dont put it on your skin.

After a three-year health adventure focusing on diet, gut health, controlling skin inflammation, skin microbiome health, and hormone balancing I have fully CURED my own eczema.

How To Treat Infected Eczema Asap

How you treat infected eczema depends on what type of infection youre dealing with.

If you think your eczema is infected, contact your doctor or dermatologist to figure out your next steps. Treatment may look like this:

Your doc might also suggest you use corticosteroid creams to help calm the inflammation that comes with eczema and an infection.

Can I Prevent New Skin Infections

If your child gets frequent skin infections, the following can be helpful:

Bathe your child as often your childs dermatologist recommends. Bathing helps remove bacteria, viruses, and other germs from the skin. It also helps the skin heal.

Moisturize your childs skin as often as necessary to reduce dry skin and cracking. Germs enter the body through cracks in the skin.

Avoid dipping your fingers into your childs moisturizer. Dipping your fingers into your childs moisturizer can spread bacteria and other germs from your childs skin to the moisturizer. If youve been dipping your fingers into your childs moisturizer and your child develops a skin infection, youll need to throw away the moisturizer.

You can avoid spreading bacteria and other germs by:

Using a pump applicator

Scooping out the moisturizer with a spoon

Ask your childs dermatologist about bleach bath therapy. For children who get frequent skin infections, this therapy may be helpful.

If your child continues to have just as many skin infections and youre doing everything to prevent these, tell your childs dermatologist.

A bit of detective work may be necessary to find out whats causing the infections.

Emollients For Treating Eczema

Emollient creams add moisture to the skin. Apply moisturisers each day to clean, dry skin. It is especially important to moisturise after showering and bathing, and when living or working in an air-conditioned or heated environment. You may need to try several different brands until you find the emollient that works best for you. Ask your doctor, dermatologist or pharmacist for advice.

How Are They Different

How do you treat bad bacteria & staph infections from eczema & dermatitis?

Eczema and cellulitis may look similar. Both lead to inflamed or swollen skin.

But your symptoms may be different.

If you have crusting or scaling, thatâs a sign of eczema, but not cellulitis. With cellulitis, your skin usually looks smooth and shiny.

Sometimes an antibiotic may be needed as well. This is because the damage to the skin makes you more likely to become infected by the bacteria normally harmlessly present on the skin as well. This is called a secondary bacterial infection.

Be sure to look out for the following signs if you believe your childs eczema is infected:

Skin that is weepy with clear or yellow fluid
Skin that has blisters or red/yellow spots

It can cause damage to eyesight there may be secondary infections with other germs such as bacteria in people whose immune systems are not working well, it may occasionally cause death. This is because it may cause damage to other organs such as the brain, liver or lungs if it spreads.

Usually eczema herpeticum is cured by the antiviral medication. Sometimes eczema herpeticum can come back and need to be treated again.

How Infected Eczema Is Treated

The way you treat infected eczema depends on whether it was caused by a virus, bacteria, or fungi. Viral infections may be treated with antiviral medications or allowed to heal themselves.
