Treating Eczema On The Face With Eczema Face Wash

Cortisone, the topical ointment typically used in the treatment of eczema, thins the skin over time, so although it reduces the itch, its use should be limited. Cosmetic products that contain only natural ingredients for cleaning, soothing, and moisturizing the skin will ensure that flare-ups are limited.

Because eczema is so individualized, every sufferer should have a multi-faceted personal skin care regime. This should include a skin care plan to prevent flare-ups, and one that soothes the symptoms of eczema when inflammation does occur.

The face should be washed morning and night with a gentle cleanser for eczema that does not contain soap. Use a soft towel to gently dry the skin before applying medication if required. The routine should always end with the application of moisturizer.

How Is Eczema Diagnosed

There are no lab tests for eczema. Dermatologists and physicians diagnose the condition based on a physical exam and a discussion with the patient about his symptoms.

If a patient comes in with red, scaling skin on his face and scalp, a doctor may determine after close inspection that the patient has seborrheic dermatitis. Or, if the patient is an infant or toddler with rashes on her cheeks, arms and legs, a doctor may diagnose her with atopic dermatitis.

During the doctor-patient discussion, a doctor is likely to ask if scratching the itchy skin feels goodeven if it also makes the skin irritation worse. If the patient answers yes, thats a telltale sign that he has eczema.

A doctor may also ask a patient if she has been stressed, if she has any known allergies, if shes taking any medications, or if shes been exposed to any metals or chemicals. Each of these factors could help a doctor determine if eczema is to blame for a patients skin issues. A doctor may also ask how long symptoms have been occurring, whether those symptoms ebb and flow, and what seems to make them worse or better.

If a doctor believes a patients eczema is being triggered by an allergy, she may order skin-prick tests to confirm that an allergy is indeed part of the problem. But that has less to do with diagnosing eczema than in identifying its potential triggers.

Exfoliation With Lactic Acid

Acne Product, Eczema Treatments

Chronic dryness is a persistent feature of skin that suffers from eczema. While exfoliation can improve the look and health of dry skin, most people tend to avoid exfoliation for fear of irritating skin further. Facial scrubs and brushes can irritate and redden skin, while glycolic and salicylic acids can be too aggressive and sometimes increase dryness.

Lactic acid is a dream exfoliator for chronically dry skin. It works by:

  • Softening and loosening dead skin to exfoliate
  • Helping skin to hydrate itself from within
  • Recommended lactic acid exfoliators:

What Are The Best Cleansing Oils For Eczema

Cleansing oils are a better face wash for eczema than soaps because oils are full of soothing fatty acids.

Cleansing oils can also be used for eczema, and are extremely beneficial when used as part of a double cleansing routine as they lift away dirt and impurities without drying the skin. Look for oils like argan oil, glycine soja oil, grapeseed oil, almond oil, safflower oil and coconut oil, which are all highly moisturizing, and each offer unique additional skin benefits:

    • Argan oil soothes the skin and heals infection and wounds
    • Glycine soja oil protects the skin from damage and promotes the growth of healthy skin cells
    • Grapeseed oil helps to improve the skins elasticity
    • Almond oil is a well-known treatment for dry skin and also reduces the appearance of scars
    • Safflower oil prevents flaking
    • Coconut oil reduces inflammation and provides antimicrobial properties.

I’m sceptical that these products will help to clear eczema but they most likely help ease the itching that cokes with it. I will probably try the vaseline body butter cream.

My eczema isn’t all that bad, I only get it on the backs of my knees and inner elbows, but it’s still annoyingly itchy and dry, I guess I’ll start trying each one of these

My granddaughter was born with eczema. We tried just about everything, the steroids the over the counter creams, until someone recommended this eczema kit from this site called Asebella. I ordered the eczema kit from them and it instantly stopped the itching, the red bumps and the dryness. I even ordered some healing butter for the dark marks and now her skin looks and feels FANTASTIC. She is only 7 and no longer itching. She takes her kit with her everywhere she swears by it.
