What To Do With Weeping Eczema

What Should I Do If I Have Weeping Eczema

11. Weeping eczema can start with Frustration

While it is tempting to immediately go for your steroid cream in order to deal with weeping eczema, it is actually one of the worst ways to do it. As you know, steroid cream always has a chance of creating steroid withdrawal with your skin.

Additionally, steroid cream will only briefly clear the area of the infection briefly. But as Staphy A is found very commonly on human skin, itll quickly reoccur, rendering steroid cream applications useless in the long term.

If you have weeping eczema , these are the recommended steps:

  • Make sure you clean your inflicted area thoroughly. This could be done by either soaking gauze with sterilized water or saline solution, which helps draw the bacteria out of your open wound.
  • You could also use a gauze soaked with sterilized water or saline solution to soak the inflicted skin.
  • Thoroughly and very gently remove the crusted liquid from your skin, but dont forcefully scratch any scabs off you might hurt your skin even more!
  • Regularly moisturize the area with cream like Aveeno Eczema Therapy Moisturizing Treatment Cream.
  • As always with any form of wound, make sure to pat yourself dry instead of rubbing it dry. Do anything you could to reduce any possible irritation on your weeping skin.
  • And lastly, to reduce the likelihood of having weeping eczema again, make sure to eat appropriately and avoid food that will cause allergic reactions.

Eczema Coping Tips Diet

In people with atopic dermatitis, there sometimes a decrease or lack of filaggrin in the skin. Filaggrin is a protein that plays a key role in the structure and formation of the outermost corneal layer of the skin. The lack of filaggrin has been traced back to genetic mutations in the FLG gene. Not having enough filaggrin in the skin layers creates a damaged skin barrier, leading to a reduced ability to maintain the skins natural amount of water, as well as sores and rashes. The damaged skin barrier may also allow for airborne allergens to enter the skin, which could lead to an inflammatory response by the immune system.

Moisturizers help keep your skin soft and flexible. They prevent skin cracks. A plain moisturizer is best. Avoid moisturizers with fragrances and a lot of extra ingredients. Eczema is not a single skin condition, but rather a family of conditions that cause the skin to become swollen, irritated, and itchy, according to the National Eczema Association . It is very common, with more than 31 million Americans having some form of eczema, the organization reports.

One symptom, blisters, occurs in response to inflamed or damaged skin, explains Peter Lio, MD, a dermatologist at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. They are essentially bubbles filled with fluid.

This fluid, referred to as serous fluid, is ultimately a blood filtration product and is similar to when there is swelling in an area such as a swollen ankle after a sprain, he says. In the skin, the fluid can be very concentrated around blood vessels and can be superficial enough to cause tiny blisters rather than just swelling of an area.

Conlcusion: Follow The Steps Above To Get Rid Of Weeping Eczema

Well there you have it, I really hope that you liked this article and that it helped you understand more about the causes of weeping eczema, and most importantly, what to do about it.

I had couple of situations where my primary eczema turned into a bacteria colonization, so along with my program, I tried to incorporate all of the above into my skin routine.

Here is how I got rid of my weeping eczema:

First, I would clean the areas with cotton and saline solution, gently removing any yellow crusts where those bacteria lived.

Then, I took more cotton and dipped them in a solution of Epsom salts + water. I placed this on my weeping areas, and let them soak in all the water!

After pat drying the area, I applied a lotion moisturizer around the weeping areas where my skin was badly cracked. I also put a layer directly on the areas itself, to thoroughly hydrate the area.

Finally, I got my 10 minutes of sunlight and then followed up again with more moisturizer as my skin was very cracked at the time.

Doing the steps above, helped the weeping stop within DAYS. Which is why I wanted to share this with you! As someone who struggled with this for years, it makes me want to help others who might have it too.

Hopefully, this article helps you finally know what causes it and what to do about it.

    Tips For Preventing Infections

Keeping eczema symptoms under control may help lower your chances of developing an infection. You can help prevent weeping eczema by doing the following:

    • Avoid scratching. No matter how much your skin itches, try not to scratch it. Scratching carries with it a major risk for infection. Keep your fingernails short, and if the itching becomes bothersome, try using a cold compress.
    • Use a humidifier. Dry indoor air can trigger itching and flaking of the skin. A humidifier adds moisture to the air in your home and protects your skin from drying up.
    • Moisturize skin. Cracks and open areas in the skin can provide an easy entry for bacteria. Its important to moisturize your skin at least twice a day. The best time to apply a moisturizer is when your skin is still damp after getting out of the shower or bath.
    • Take baths. Taking frequent baths or showers can reduce bacteria and remove dead skin. Use warm not hot water when bathing. Instead of rubbing, pat your skin dry.
    • Avoid harsh soaps. Stay away from soaps that are made with harsh perfumes or dyes. If you do use these products, rinse them completely from your body when showering.
    • Wear proper clothing. Choose clothing thats cool, smooth, and made of cotton. This will lower your chance of experiencing skin irritation.
