Complications Of Periorificial Dermatitis
Granulomatous periorificial dermatitis is a variant of periorificial dermatitis that presents with persistent yellowish papules. It occurs mainly in young children and nearly always follows the use of a corticosteroid. There is a granulomatous perifollicularinfiltrate on histopathology.
Steroid rosacea presents with steroid-induced, large facial papules, papulopustules and telangiectasia on the mid-face, including forehead and cheeks.
Rebound flare of severe periorificial dermatitis may occur after abrupt cessation of application of potent topical steroid to facial skin.
What Does It Look Like
Some people with perioral dermatitis may only get a few bumps, and their rash may not be very discernible. Others may have many lumps forming a noticeable rash.
The bumps may be skin colored, or, in people with fair skin, may appear red or pink. Although they might resemble pimples, the bumps are not the same as acne.
It is possible that the rash will look inflamed, with the underlying and surrounding skin appearing red or pink.
How Is Lip Lickers Dermatitis Diagnosed
People with the condition will likely have a ring on the skin around their lips that is red, irritated, and cracked. While lip licking behavior might not be observed during a visit to a healthcare professional, people with the condition might be able to personally attest to a lip licking habit.

What Is The Treatment For Eyelid Contact Dermatitis

- Avoid rubbing and scratching.
- Only touch eyelids with clean, rinsed hands.
- Wash eyelids with plain water or use a cream cleanser designed for sensitive skin.

When Should You See A Doctor
If you suspect you have perioral dermatitis you should stop putting all ointments and creams on your face. This alone may improve the condition. What Exactly Is Perioral Dermatitis
If you have a rash around your mouth, you may have perioraldermatitis.
This rash often looks like small, red, acne-like breakouts in people with light-colored skin and skin-colored breakouts in people who have skin of color.
Perioral dermatitis
Perioral dermatitis causes a rash, which often looks like acne.
Whether red or skin colored, this rash can itch. Sometimes, the rash causes a burning sensation.
Its also possible that you wont have any itching or burning. Youll likely have dry and flaky skin where you have the rash, though.
While this rash often develops around the mouth, it can also appear around your eyes or nose. You may have the rash around your mouth and nose or your nose and eyes.
Some people get it around their genitals. If you have the rash around any of these areas, your dermatologist may say you have peri-orificial dermatitis.
Peri-orifical dermatitis is actually a more accurate name for this rash. Peri means around and orifical refers to an opening. No matter where this rash appears though, people often refer to it as perioral dermatitis. That literally means peri oral .
What Are The Types Of Perioral Dermatitis
There is typical perioral dermatitis, and then there is granulomatous perioral dermatitis. Granulomatous is not a type perioral dermatitis, but an irregular version of it. If you have granulomatous dermatitis then youll see yellowish bumps instead of red ones. Children are more prone to have granulomatous dermatitis than adults.

Medical Treatment For Eczema
Eczema cant be cured. But it can be managed by preventing and treating flare-ups as soon as they appear.
If your childs skin is inflamed and itchy, theyll probably need some corticosteroid ointment or cream. For mild eczema, you can buy mild corticosteroids over the counter at your pharmacy. The most common is hydrocortisone 1% cream. For more serious eczema or if the over-the-counter products arent working, youll need to see your GP to get a prescription for a stronger corticosteroid.
Other eczema treatments include pimecrolimus, a non-steroidal cream. Doctors might prescribe this cream for children with mild to moderate eczema on the face and in body folds.
If your child is scratching at a rash, you could ask your pharmacist or GP about using an antihistamine medication for a few days. Together with a corticosteroid cream, this might give your child some rest and help the flare-up to settle.
If your childs eczema rash gets infected, your doctor will prescribe a course of oral antibiotics.
Dry Skin Around Nose Treatment

Part of treating perioral dermatitis is incorporating lifestyle changes that can help prevent it from returning. Consider the following:
- Get rid of harsh face scrubs or perfumed cleansers. Instead, use only warm water during flare-ups. Once healed, only use mild soap and dont scrub your skin.
