Over the past couple of months, I have been exclusively wearing the Aveeno Clear Complexion BB Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 30 in Fair to Light. After using it just a couple of times, it became the foundation/BB cream that I reached for every single time I wore makeup! I am happy to share my review with before and after photos below.

Below you can see a skin swatch of the Aveeno Clear Complexion BB Cream . You can see that swatch #3 is blended completely into my skin.
The BB Cream has a lovely fresh scent which does not linger on, and is of a medium consistency. It has the smoothest feel as I applied and blends incredibly well with my skin tone. Normally, I need a Medium shade and was very surprised that the Fair to Light shade did not go on pale and truly adjusted to my skin. I always use my Eco Tools Bamboo Foundation brush to apply. This product does have a bit of a sheen to it but that helps to brighten my complexion.

Is A Bath Or Shower Better For My Eczema
Water is an effective way to put moisture back into the skin, but only if you use lukewarm water, avoid scrubbing and apply a moisturizer within three minutes after bathing or showering. As long as you follow these rules, both bathing and showering are equally effective in keeping the skin barrier healthy and flexible, so that it can better lock in moisture and keep irritants out.
However, too much contact with water or improper bathing can actually cause irritation. Especially if you repeatedly get your skin wet without moisturizing it immediately afterward. This causes your skin to lose its moisture content and become dry and irritated.

Can I use Aveeno cream on my face?
Yes, I had been doing that for years. However, if you are new to this product, you should test it out first on your extremities rather than your face. I only apply a thin layer on my face, and I would not recommend you to do otherwise.
Why does Aveeno cream burn?
Two possibilities, as far as I am concerned.
One is that you are indeed allergic to Aveeno eczema cream, probably one of its ingredients. If the burning sensation comes up even at a time when your eczema rashes are dormant and/or even when you apply it to a normal skin area, odds are that you are allergic to this product.
Second is that vigorous immune reaction inside your body right at this moment triggers a reaction that mimics allergy, resulting in a burning or stinging sense. This is due to the surging release of histamines and other chemical mediators at the high of body inflammation. In other words, if you try it some other times when you feel calm, you find the cream acceptable.
How long does it take to work?
The degree of inflammation you are going through actually has much of a say in this. Most with moderate eczema recover within two to four weeks, while in severe cases, it may take months to heal.

You can apply it as many times in a day as you require, probably once in the morning and at night, and after shower. or maybe thrice!

Emollient Therapy And Reduction Of Corticosteroid Usage
Because topical corticosteroids are associated with a risk of complications, including hypertrichosis, telangiectasia, skin atrophy, and stria , guidelines recommend that long-term use be limited . To minimize adverse and systemic effects of topical corticosteroids in infants and young children with AD, appropriate potency , duration, and localized application is recommended . However, emollient monotherapy is recommended as the first approach in resolving areas of excessive dryness in very young children with AD .
A number of studies report a steroid-sparing effect of emollients when used in conjunction with topical corticosteroids. In a 3-week study of children with mild-to-moderate AD, once-daily hydrocortisone 2.5% cream plus an emollient was compared with twice-daily hydrocortisone 2.5% . Skin symptoms and lesion size were significantly improved by 7 days in both treatment groups, with no significant between-group differences. These results demonstrated that the use of an emollient can be used to reduce the exposure to topical corticosteroids while providing the same degree of improvement.
Safety Tolerability And Adherence
Adverse events of bleach baths and cleansers were documented in 4 of 5 studies. AE included stinging/burning , itch , xerosis , erythema , urticaria , oozing . There were no differences of AE between bleach and water baths.
Adherence was assessed in 3 studies, but was measured differently across all studies . There were no significant differences in adherence between patients in both treatment arms.

There are three popular skin barrier emulsions for eczema treatment. Two of the emulsions are over-the-counter products but are highly endorsed by dermatologists for atopic eczema, and the other is available by prescription only. Each contain one of the main properties necessary to help heal breakouts of eczema-ceramides. Each contains three lipids found in normal skin that those with eczema often lack: ceramides, fatty acids and cholesterol.

This layer has many functions, including regulating permeability and retaining moisture protecting against ultraviolet irradiation and microorganisms relaying mechanical and sensory signals . The SC is composed of corneocytes surrounded by a continuous phase of lipids. The intercellular lipids are a mixture of ceramides, cholesterol, and free fatty acids organized into tightly packed lamellar formations . The amount of intercellular lipids and their organization contribute to overall SC barrier function. Corneocytes consist primarily of tightly packed keratin bundles surrounded by a cross-linked protein envelope. Ceramides are covalently bound to the outer surface of the corneocyte envelope, forming a barrier to water loss. Corneocyte hydration is also maintained by the production of NMF , a collection of highly hygroscopic, low-molecular-weight compounds . The primary source of NMF within corneocytes is the breakdown of filaggrin to its component amino acids and the derivatization of two of these amino acids, glutamine to pyrrolidone carboxylic acid, and histidine to urocanic acid . Urea and lactate, two compounds that are produced outside of corneocytes, comprise approximately 20% of NMF . Maintenance of highly organized lipid lamellae and sufficiently hydrated, tightly bound corneocytes is critical to ensuring SC integrity.
