Q: I Put Hydrogen Peroxide In My Ear And Now It Is Clogged What Do I Do

Hemp Seed Oil And Flax Seed Oil

    1 User Review

Was diagnosed with Nummular Eczema and it was quite an ordeal and am posting this in hopes of helping others. Through trial and error I developed a regiment that has got me back to normal. I take one capsule of Hemp Seed oil either every day or every other day. I also take daily one capsule of Flax seed oil which cleared up the itching and swelling around my eyes. These are the most important. I also take 1 or 2 Probiotic Acidophilus. I also take 1 Borage oil capsule every other day, I think helps but I believe the others are the most important.

My husband used to have dry skin issues during winter months while we lived in the middle east, although it was visible as very small patches on his elbow and ankle that could be easily treated using QV cream mostly and corticosteroid rarely. Dermatologists diagnosed it to be psoriasis. After we moved in to Canada a year ago, he developed extreme dry skin 2 months ago which covered his arms, legs , trunk . The GP diagnosed it to be psoriasis whereas the Dermatologist said it was eczema. Both of them prescribed corticosteroids.

Oxidative Stress In Atopic Dermatitis Involvement And Possible Mechanisms

Skin is the largest organ in the human body. It protects the body from external insults, such as chemicals, environment pollutants, and allergens. The skin is therefore a major target of oxidative stress due to reactive species that are constantly generated in the keratinocytes in response to environmental and endogenous prooxidant agents. Physical activity and psychological stress can also create oxidative stress to the skin. Free radicals generated during normal metabolism are an integral part of normal skin function and are usually of little harm because intracellular mechanisms can reduce their damaging effects. However, increased or prolonged free radical action can overwhelm antioxidant defense mechanisms of the skin and contribute to the development of skin disorders, including skin cancer, skin aging, and dermatitis .

Many people have skin disorders that range from rosacea, acne, psoriasis, eczema, and so on. The best thing that anyone with any skin condition must do is to stick to a treatment that is geared to help the skin disorder. When you do that, you will want to go to a dermatologist to help you treat whatever skin disorder you have. However, many people skip that step and end up doing what they want based on believing something will work because it has the properties to do that.

That is why many people for instance, who have acne problems will go and grab hydrogen peroxide to help clear it. Why wouldnt they do that? For one, hydrogen peroxide is inexpensive, and it also has antibacterial properties. They may have heard a friend, a family member, a coworker, or a neighbor rave about how well the hydrogen peroxide removes the blemishes because it kills bacteria effectively. However, there is a significant problem with that. Hydrogen peroxide is a cleaning agent that you use to clean your home, and you can even swoosh with it if you have a mouth infection as long as you spit every drop out afterward. Hydrogen peroxide is a type of bleach which means it is not supposed to go on your skin.

What Are The Types Of Eczema

29 Magical DIY Uses For Hydrogen Peroxide

There are five main types of eczema:

    • Atopic dermatitis: This is the most common and chronic type of eczema. Hence, eczema is often called atopic dermatitis. It presents with dry, itchy, red rashes on the skin. It is often seen in babies and is associated with sensitive skin.
    • Contact dermatitis: This is caused by contact with irritants that cause reaction on the skin. Burning, itching, and redness occur. The inflammation disappears when the irritant is removed.
    • Dyshidrotic dermatitis: This affects the fingers, palms of the hands, and soles of the feet. There are red, itchy, scaly patches on the skin that can be painful and cause the skin to crack. Sweat collection and using metal jewelry may cause such type of rash.
    • Nummular dermatitis: This presents with dry, round patches of skin, which usually occur during winter and commonly appear on the legs.
    • Seborrheic dermatitis: Also called dandruff, this presents with itchy, red, scaly rashes typically on the scalp and other hair borne areas such as the eyebrows or eyelids.

    Helps Whiten Your Teeth

One of the noticeable qualities of hydrogen peroxide is its bleaching action. When it comes into contact with regular air and temperature, it releases extra oxygen, an excellent antiseptic and cleanser.

Your teeth are no exception. Many studies have shown hydrogen peroxide as an excellent teeth whitener. Moreover, dozens of dentists suggest using hydrogen peroxide to remove minor stains from your teeth.

Dr. Michelle McPhail, a licensed dental assistant for seven years and expert, is one of them.

Yes, it can whiten your teeth, she says. She further adds, it does actually remove some staining from your teeth.

Dr. McPhail also explains how to use hydrogen peroxide to cleanse teeth:

    • Get a hydrogen peroxide bottle and a toothbrush
    • Dip your toothbrush into the hydrogen peroxide bottle
    • Pull it out and start brushing your teeth
    • Brush your teeth with hydrogen peroxide for about 1-2 minutes

And its as simple as that!

It is important to remember that you should use hydrogen peroxide on your teeth once a week or once every other day, not more than that.

Hydrogen peroxide may not whiten your teeth to the best of their ability, but they are proficient in removing any minor stains that you might have in between your teeth or on the superficial surface of your tooth.

    Managing Oxidative Stress In Ad

Given the association of oxidative stress with other factors in development and maintenance of AD, it is worthwhile to consider incorporating strategies in reducing oxidative stress in managing AD. This can be accomplished in multiple ways, including reducing free radical production and enhancing antioxidant capacity diminishing the intensity of inflammation and proinflammatory cytokine production avoiding environmental, physical, and psychological triggers to achieve prolonged remissions and applying emollients to maintain the intact skin barrier. The practical approach would be to combine anti-inflammatory agents, immune modulatory drugs, skin emollients, and antioxidants. The antioxidant agents to be considered include melatonin vitamins A, C, D, and E oxytocin and others.

Vitamin D. Vitamin D is a steroid hormone that can be produced in the body during a chemical reaction catalyzed by UVB radiation. When there is lack of UV exposure, vitamin D can only be obtained through the diet. The antioxidant capability of vitamin D in skin is not clear. It was shown that, after vitamin D exposure, several antioxidant genes were upregulated in the prostate, including SOD, thioredoxin reductase, and G6PD. Vitamin D was also shown to be able to protect prostate cells from H2O2-induced cell death . Similar results may be expected in human skin cells. However, no clinical efficacy has been reported so far in AD patients.

Research Suggests Manuka Honey May Help Treat Eczema

Natalie Yin, MD, an assistant professor of dermatology with Columbia University Medical Center in New York City, says that honey can help treat eczema because of its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Those elements can keep skin issues from occurring, or, if issues have occurred already, they can minimize swelling or redness. While regular honey is well known for its antimicrobial properties, manuka honey is the front runner of honeys for non-peroxide antimicrobial activity, according to a study published in in AIMS Microbiology. According to the National Cancer Institute, manuka honeys antibacterial properties come from its concentration of the dicarbonyl compound methylglyoxal and because it seems to release hydrogen peroxide. The National Cancer Institute also notes that the honey has been said to help with wound repair, which could help eczema patches heal.

Another plus for patients with eczema: Honey can help keep the skin hydrated. Honey could work because it is an incredibly thick emollient that would help trap moisture in the skin, says Daniel P. Friedmann, MD, a board-certified dermatologist with Westlake Dermatology in Austin, Texas. Trapping moisture is key, because patients with eczema are faced with skin that is unable to hold onto hydration, which keeps it from protecting against bacteria, allergens, and other irritants, according to the Mayo Clinic.
