Eczema Honey Before And After

Different Types Of Eczema:

Eyelid Eczema Before + After | Eczema Honey Multi Peptide Eye Cream

Atopic Eczema – thought to be a hereditary condition being genetically linked. Associated atopic conditions include asthma and hayfever.

Allergic Contact Dermatitis – develops when the body’s immune system reacts against a substance in contact with the skin. The allergic reaction often develops over a period of time through repeated contact with the substance.

Infantile Seborrhoeic Eczema – a common condition affecting babies under one year old. Also referred to as cradle cap, usually starting on the scalp or the nappy area.

Adult Seborrhoeic Eczema – usually affects adults between the ages of 20-40. First seen on the scalp as mild dandruff but can spread to the face, ears and chest. The skin becomes red, inflamed and starts to flake.

Nummular Eczema – A stubborn, itchy rash that forms coin-shaped patches on the skin. The lesions as they get older may clear in the centre or become scaly and then resemble fungus .

Dyshidrotic Eczema – a condition in which small blisters that cause intense itching develop on the hands and feet. They are most common along the edges of the fingers, toes, palms and soles. The vesicles produce intense itching and scratching leads to skin changes with thickening.

Perioral Dermatitis – a common facial skin problem in adult women. Groups of itchy or tender small red spots appear most often around the mouth. They spare the skin bordering the lips but develop on the chin, upper lip and cheeks.

Texture And Feel Of Eczema Honey

When you first open your jar youll see it looks more like a light ointment than a cream. After I applied Eczema Honey onto Mavericks face my hands felt sticky tacky? Something of that sort. It is explained as so in the directions that came with my jars:

This is the natural lipd bi-layer that is created once the cream soaks in. This layer acts as a protecting barrier and ensures the healing process.

The first ingredient is Organic Pure Honey and it also contains Organic Grated Beeswax so the texture and feel were definitely expected, but did I like it? No, I dont like the feeling of this product on my hands for too long so I wash them after applying it on baby Maverick. Its possible that youll be able to ignore the tacky feeling if the Eczema Honey was applied to a different area like the face. I havent tried it.

Whats The Difference Between Shea Butter And Other Butters

Shea butter, cocoa butter, strawberry butter, peanut butter. Which is good for your skin and hair and which just sounds good? Not all butters are created equal, explains Dobos. She says that while shea, cocoa, and mango butters, for example, are all naturally occurring, some natural oils are just blended with hydrogenated vegetable oil or chemically modified to make them more solid in nature, similar to how margarine is made.

Dobos explains that none of the chemically-modified butters need to be avoided in fact, theyre all perfectly safe but dont assume theyre akin to shea butter just because theyre similar in name. It can be hard to separate marketing from real engagement in supply chain matters. Look for brands that partner with organizations like the Global Shea Alliance, which promotes sustainable practices and provides training to improve quality of shea harvesting while ensuring fair trade practices and equitable pay, she continues.

In 2014, a small pilot study examined 15 participants with eczema lesions on both sides of their body. They applied kanuka honey to one side and a control cream to the other every night for 2 weeks. No difference in eczema severity was found between the two.

Another in 2017 looked at 14 participants with eczema lesions on both sides of their body. They applied manuka honey to one side every evening for 1 week. The other side was left untreated.

Researchers observed that eczema lesions improved following treatment with manuka honey. They also observed less inflammation.

Shea butter is rich in antioxidants, which can help prevent fine lines and wrinkles brought on by those pesky free radicals. It also has an abundance of vitamins A, E, and F to boost circulation and encourage faster generation of healthy skin cells.

Shea butter may also help plump up your skin. Although more research is needed, shea butter does contain triterpenes a chemical that slows the breakdown of your existing collagen.

Best Type Of Honey For Eczema

Many commercial honey brands have unfortunately been ultrafiltered, overprocessed and pasteurized to decrease the presence of propolis and pollen, substances that can provide pain relief, reduce inflammation and kill many species of bacteria.

Therefore, the best type of honey for eczema is one that is labeled 100% pure, and raw, unfiltered, natural or organic to receive its healing qualities. Raw honey is the least processed and as such, likely has the most antioxidants.

The honey should be slightly milky in appearance and have a small amount of solid matter, which is indicative of pollen and propolis.

Still, there can be a great range in variation from one honey to the next, with as much as a 100-fold variance in antibacterial activities, depending on a number of variables, including geographical location, season, harvesting and storage.

It seems timely with the testing for the Freefrom skincare awards in full swing that I am doing my own skincare testing at home. Nothing to do with the awards, but everything to do with my quest to find natural and healthy food for my skin as well as my body.

A recent visit to my local health food shop gave way to a long chat with the lady working there whose daughter has quite bad eczema. She said that she buys shea butter, just plain simple shea butter, from the local ethnic shop and that it has worked wonders on her daughters skin.

Now I decided to do a bit of research into what shea butter really is since Ive not really ever heard much spoken about it for dry skin. Why have I not discovered this before? It is the most amazing stuff and its just one ingredient, just shea butter, thats it.

What Is Manuka Honey And Why Is It So Special

Manuka honey is produced by bees which gather pollen off the Manuka bush which is native to New Zealand. It can be bought from most supermarkets, health food shops and, of course, and while certainly delicious, it is rather expensive. You may also come across Kanuka honey, made by bees gathering pollen from Kanuka bushes, which a close relation to the Manuka bush.

One of the major antibacterial components in manuka honey is a compound called methylglyoxal . The flowers of the manuka bush contain a high concentration of a component called dihydroxyacetone , which is converted into MGO. According to WebMD, the higher the concentration of MGO, the stronger the antibacterial effect.

According to the NHS, Manuka honey is thought to be particularly potent because it has high levels of a compound called dihydroxyacetone, which is present in the nectar of Manuka flowers. This chemical produces methylglyoxal, a compound thought to have antibacterial and cell-killing properties. While research in this area is still in its infancy, the early results are encouraging.
