Eczema In Babies And Children
Eczema is common in babies and young children as well, and in addition to similar causes and triggers as adults, itchy, inflamed skin in little ones can be due to sweating and saliva on the skin due to drooling.1 Many babies and children eventually outgrow eczema, but its imperative to avoid triggers and manage symptoms until they do. CeraVes baby products feature three essential ceramides, hyaluronic acid and niacinamide to help moisturize and maintain the skins protective barrier. CeraVe Baby Wash & Shampoo and Baby Moisturizing Creamare gentle, fragrance-free formulas thatprovide the moisture and soothing that young, delicate skin needs.

Face & Body Cleansers
If you have only had shower with normal soaps, switching to cerave and cetaphil are a bomb.
They will offer a whole new experience in terms of body washers.
Here are the links for the full reviews:
I can tell you hurry up and get one of those body cleansers because you wont leave your shower feeling less than great.
Both products cerave and cetaphil are phenomenal and I will explain in detail why.
Both face and body washers are different and have pros and cons, naturally.
But in the end, results are quite similar in terms of hydration on a long term so the differences are more likely to present themselves on the first impressions.
But before we dive deeper, heres why I loved these products.
What Products Should I Avoid If I Have Eczema
You should avoid any ingredients that you have a known allergy to and anything that has irritated your skin previously, Dr. Chan said. Common products that can do this are acne products with benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. I also would avoid high percentage AHAs.
Be sure to note that developing a skin allergy is higher when you have atopic dermatitis, so avoiding fragrance when you can is a good idea, especially during an active flare.

Ive Had Eczema My Whole Life These Are The Products That Really Work For Me
Typically, eczema isnt something that we address much in the beauty industry. Unlike acne or rosacea, there arent many readily available products or treatments that target the issue, so I did the only thing Id ever really known and made an appointment with my GP.
My first prescription was Diprobase, a super-thick emollient cream that deposits a layer of oil on the surface of the skin to prevent water loss and make skin feel less dry. But as someone who is also prone to acne, slathering it on nightly only broke me out in spots.
It also contains paraffin oils, which not only smell pretty suffocating but are also flammable, and that really put me off. After a month or so of putting up with the condition, I went back to my GP and came away with Dermol, yet another emollient lotion, which only made my skin greasy, sticky and just generally uncomfortable.
Not happy with my doctors help, I finally booked an appointment with a dermatologist, who prescribed me a cream Id never tried before: Elidel 1%, which contains the active ingredient pimecrolimus to treat the inflammation, redness and itching that are the result of eczema. Getting my hands on it was no mean feat, though. My nearest pharmacies had trouble calling it in, and when it did arrive, it cost me over £25 for a 30g tube.
Aveeno Vs Cerave: Different Ingredients
To make things short, CeraVe is a better product. Both do have their problematic ingredients however.
Aveeno uses a key ingredient called Avena Sativa which is one of their unique selling points.Petrolatum is another which is an emollient that soften and soothes skin by preventing moisture loss from the skin. Although it sounds like a good function, it does have the possibility of causing skin irritation. It is a prohibited substance in cosmetic products in the European Union.
The damaging ingredient in the Aveeno moisturizing lotion is Benzyl Alcohol. It is an ingredient used in skin lotions due its anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. It is quite common in moisturizing creams for Eczema.
CeraVe has one single ingredient that stands out and can be problematic, Phenoxyethanol. It has been reported as harmful if absorbed through skin, causing irritation and blistering. This makes Phenoxyethanol a potential health concern for Eczema sufferers like ourselves. Another ingredient in some versions of the moisturizing lotion that needs to be highlighted is Methylparaben. It can cause serious skin irritation, especially for the eyes!
Phenoxyethanol is an interesting ingredient as it is now banned in Palau due to the damages it can cause to coral reefs. If it can cause long lasting damages to the aquatic wildlife, the question is, what kind of damage can do to our skin?

Trial details of eligible studies were extracted independently by two review authors using pre-piloted data extraction forms . The risk of bias assessments were made using the Cochrane domain-based evaluation tool as described in Chapter 8, Sect. 8.5, in the Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Interventions . Mean differences were calculated for continuous outcomes and for dichotomous data we calculated risk ratios . All outcomes were reported with their associated 95% confidence intervals . We used the I2 statistic in meta-analyses to assess heterogeneity . The quality of the evidence for the prespecified outcomes was rated using the GRADE approach . Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion Side Effects
Cetaphil moisturizing lotion does not have any known side-effects. But this does not eliminate the possibility of adverse reactions to the product because not all side-effects are reported. If you have reason to believe that this lotion might cause some side-effects, please consult a dermatologist before you start using it.
Cerave Vs Cetaphil: Which Is Better
To get an experts opinion on these products, you should consult a dermatologist to get the best possible advice as they are the experts! You should get an allergy test to check whether you are compatible with the ingredients noted.
Personally I had a better reaction to CeraVe than Cetaphil. With CeraVe I saw progression and healing with my Eczema. My skin was still quite dry but the redness and even Cetaphil I had a burning sensation and my skin got very irritated. I trialled the cream on my skin for around 2 weeks but my skin was irritated throughout the process. My skin was red and was very uncomfortable because of the burning sensation.
So if you want a recommendation from me, I would choose CeraVe over Cetaphil. It is a far superior moisturizer for those with sensitive skin with advanced ingredients and a stamp of approval from the National Eczema Association.

Cerave Vs Cetaphil Summary
Theoretically, here is what many blogs out there are saying even though they have never taken the time to use these products themselves:
Both Cetaphil and Cerave cleansers are gentle, but heres the suggestion.
- Use Cetaphil if you have very sensitive skin
- Opt for Cerave if you have dry skin.
Even though this is true because Cerave has more hydrating ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and 3 types of ceramides.
In the past, it was even acceptable to establish such binary compassion.
But nowadays both lines expanded and created a series of products for oily skin, sensitive skin, dry skin, etc.
In real life, both Cerave and Cetaphil will do almost the same job in the long term.
And the difference between them wont really be very significant in the final result and both will hydrate your skin at the end of the day.
The main difference will be in texture, smell, how well they spread on your body, if they feel sticky or comfortable on your skin, things like that.
You should be able to judge these products based on your first impressions, on how you feel and prefer each brand.
Best Natural: Wild Naturals Eczema & Psoriasis Cream
Contains manuka honey for soothing properties
Ingredients not as well studied
We have some bad news for those searching for an all-natural eczema product: People are obsessed with natural, but natural doesn’t mean better and less likely to react, Dr. Saedi reveals. I always recommend ingredients that are studied and we know work. This is why the National Eczema Association doesnt endorse any natural products. However, if being all-natural is a must for you, we suggest Wild Naturals Eczema & Psoriasis Cream, which relies on the key ingredients of aloe vera and manuka honey to soothe and hydrate dry skin. According to a study published in November 2018 in AIMS Microbiology, manuka honey is the front runner of honeys for non-peroxide antimicrobial activity, while a number of other studies have found that it is effective in treating eczema.

Cerave Vs Cetaphil: Product Differences
Both products have different texture and application that is also worth noting. Normally when we put on moisturizer we can make a judgement as to whether to continue using it based on the feel.
If you are going for smell, both are fragrance-free which is a MUST for Eczema users. We dont judge moisturizers based on smell, it is how effective it is that counts!
CeraVe has a similar texture to Cetaphil, though from my personal experience I found that the Cetaphil moisturizer to be a bit lighter and more oily. I found CeraVe to be more effective in hydrating my skin than Cetaphil, but that saying I had to apply more of it. Cetaphil spreads easily on the skin.

Targeting Specific Problem Areas
Another deciding factor when choosing a product is the location of your targeted treatment area. Different consistencies and solutions are better suited for specific regions. For example, when it comes to your face, you should avoid products with ingredients that could potentially clog pores and lead to breakouts. And, while a lotion is a great all-over body treatment, if you are battling eczema on your elbows or behind your knees, you will probably want a product that is a bit thicker and has more staying power.

What Should You Look For In An Eczema Cream
Eczema is a condition in which the skin barrier is not able to maintain the necessary moisture to provide protection from allergens and environmental stressors. People with eczema tend to have dry, irritated, inflamed skin, says Shari Lipner, M.D., Ph.D., associate professor of clinical dermatology at Weill Cornell Medicine. Choosing the right moisturizer can help in preventing eczema flares and treating the eczema.
The best eczema creams and lotions are thicker moisturizers, Adarsh Vijay Mudgil, M.D., double board-certified dermatologist and founder of Mudgil Dermatology, tells SELF.
Its especially important to look for a product that contains humectant ingredients as well as moisturizing and skin-protecting ingredients . Humectants help add additional hydration, while ceramides and occlusive ingredients reinforce the skin barrier, ultimately helping to protect you from irritants that might trigger an eczema flare. Keep an eye out for products with a high oil-content-to-water-content ratio as well, recommends Dr. Lipner.
Of course, there are ingredients youll want to avoid too, Dendy Engelman, M.D., a board-certified dermatologist at Medical Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery, tells SELF. Ingredients to watch out for include fragrances, exfoliating acids , and retinol, she says: These can further irritate the skin by drying them out.

Cerave Benefits For Skin
CeraVe was developed by dermatologists and uses a patented formulation that promises to provide a protective barrier on the skinâs surface. According to the brand, this special formulation, called Multivesicular Emulsion Technology, ensures the moisturizer will be time-released throughout the day for complete hydration. CeraVe also uses ceramides, which are meant to help retain water in the skin. Our skin naturally contains ceramides that start to deplete over time. CeraVe products contain three different ceramides which are meant to help to not only protect the skin but also to keep it hydrated all day long.
