The Benefits Of Bamboo Clothing For Eczema

Bamboo clothing review by Karen Fischer.

Natural fabrics such as wool and linen may look lovely but if you have eczema you’ll find these fabrics can make your skin itch like f**ing crazy.

Excuse the expletive. If you’ve ever had severe eczema or red skin syndrome , you’ll know it’s no ordinary itch… It’s more like a painful ‘to the bone’ type of itch that can lead to an expletive or two.

When eczema first appears, you might find your favourite clothes are suddenly making you itch, only you won’t figure that out at first, you’ll just think it’s the eczema.

So check the fabrics you are wearing every time you itch…

That’s where bamboo viscose comes to the rescue yet again. Both Dr. Karp and Dr. Ravitskiy recommend bamboo viscose as a way to keep your little ones skin cool. Dr. Ravitskiy explains, For optimal skin health, wear body-skimming clothing made from breathable fabrics such as bamboo viscose, sleep in a cool environment, and maintain 45-55% humidity in the house.

    What Is Baking Soda

Baking Soda, also known as Sodium Bicarbonate , is an alkaline compound, composed of salt and a bicarbonate anion . The fine white powder, commercially called baking soda has hundreds of helpful uses ranging from cooking, cleaning and as a health and medical solution. Dont confuse baking soda with another common cooking ingredient, baking powder, they do not do the same things.

We dont want to take you back to your high school chemistry class, but the difference between baking soda and powder is in the chemical compound. Baking soda has a very high pH value which will trigger a chemical reaction when mixed with acidic substances like lemon juice, vinegar, buttermilk, sour cream, and other common food ingredients, releasing carbon dioxide as the mixture morphs to a neutral pH value. Baking powder is actually a derivative of baking soda, with the addition of two acids which naturally levitate other ingredients when baking, so no other acid-based ingredients are needed to trigger the reaction.

All of this sounds quite intellectual for a substance that is used to deodorize your refrigerator, gently scour the enamel of human teeth, treat heartburn, and baking bread.

What Does Activated Charcoal Soap Mean

Regular charcoal comes from wood and coal which is why its used for fuel, but activated charcoal is different. In order for it to become activated, it goes through a high temperature steaming process to purify it and increase its surface area. Interestingly enough, just one tablespoon of activated charcoal can have a surface area as large as a football field.

This is why activated charcoal has been popularly used for removing toxins from peoples bodies since the 1800s. It has incredible detoxifying powers and was even used in soldiers masks during World War I to prevent them from being poisoned by chemicals. Veterinarians rely heavily on activated charcoal as well for pets who have accidentally swallowed poisonous substances.

Toxins bind to the activated charcoal as it makes its way through yours digestive tract, so its easy to see why dirt and oils on your skin wash off easily after using charcoal soaps or face washes. And no, you cannot naturally find activated charcoal. It is a manufactured product.

How To Do A Detox Or Black Bath

    Comfortable Bamboo Eczema Gloves

There are many ways to do a detox bath but in this post, we are talking about charcoal detox or a black bath detox.

Now it can be a little messy and it will leave a black ring around your tub, but no worries it doesnt stain a tub. In fact, you may notice that once you clean the tub once you may notice its cleaner than it was before! That is due to the ability charcoal has to bind to things, bonus!

Unlike other detox baths an activated charcoal bath you dont want to add anything like essential oils or bath salts, as the charcoal will bind to them and make them useless. All you want to do is add 1/4 to 1/2 cup of activated charcoal to the bathwater while it is filling. Once it is fully mixed in soak in the bath for 15+ minutes. At the end of the soaking bath, you will have to drain the water and refill the bath to wash off any activated charcoal residue.

    Repeat as often as desired.

We did 2-3 baths a week. We found that after a week the, always persistent, signs of eczema started to fade. After a month of black baths regularly, all signs of eczema were gone. We continue to do black detox baths once a month or even less, and no signs of eczema have ever returned, which includes being around normal irritants .
