Homeopathy For Eczema

Homeopathy is a holistic science and considers the whole person that is affected and not just the affected part. Every individual in the family is eating, breathing and wearing the same thing as the affected individual, but why does only one particular person suffer from otherwise harmless substances?

As discussed earlier, eczema is often linked with other medical conditions and a detailed history, right from the time of pregnancy of the mother to the birth of the child and childhood history are all considered while evaluating a case in homeopathy. A patientÂs physical history, mental history, past medical history, family history, habits, preferences, lifestyle and mental health are all taken into consideration. After taking the history and examining the patient, the homeopathic physician evaluates the case by analysing the symptoms obtained. After fully studying and applying his knowledge of various homeopathic remedies, the doctor may suggest remedies according to each individual. This is classical homeopathic practice. However, there are certain specific, emergency remedies which a homeopathic physician may use in cases of acute flare ups, if necessary.

There are several remedies in homeopathy called as Âconstitutional remedies that give the best results in the cases of chronic, stubborn eczema.

The 5 most common homeopathic remedies for eczema are as follows:

Gentle Soaps And Detergents

Laundry detergent can contain harsh chemicals that aggravate eczema.

Many body washes and cleansers contain detergents, which help provide a soapy lather. Detergents and other lathering agents can dry out the skin, especially in people with eczema.

Bar soaps can also be harsh on the skin because of their alkalinity.

Try using a gentle, no-lather, fragrance-free cleanser. Avoid products with rough particles for scrubbing or exfoliating, as these can further irritate the skin.

Many people with eczema also find that switching to a more gentle, fragrance- or color-free laundry detergent can help improve symptoms.

Try skipping fabric softener, which lingers on clothes and often contains fragrances and chemicals that can cause skin irritation.

Sitting next to a fireplace or near a furnace may feel good, but it can make eczema symptoms worse. The hot, dry air can dehydrate the skin and aggravate the itchiness of eczema.

Use a humidifier during the dry winter months and avoid getting too close to heaters and fireplaces.

An Eczema Case History

An 18-year-old girl came to my clinic complaining that she had suffered from eczema since the age of eight. She and her family did everything that they could, using corticosteroid cream, allopathic drugs, and lotions, but her eczema continued to spread across her body. She had come to accept the fact that her eczema was incurable, but was worried about the possibility of it spreading to her face, saying that if such a thing ever happened, she would kill herself. She said she felt that the eczema had eaten her core, making her feel empty inside and causing her self-esteem to deteriorate. She went on to say that she had tried everything from watching her diet to various herbal and chemical treatments, but nothing seemed to work for her.

It was difficult to pinpoint her remedy based on this information alone, so I asked her to come in for a another session. In the second session, I was able to delve deeper and realized that she felt detached from her family and different from everybody else. The eczema had made her feel empty. Based on this new information, and what I gathered from her mental and physical situation, I gave her Thuja 200C.

First follow-up: The itchiness of her skin was reduced considerably and her sleeping habits improved. She felt that her skin might be getting dryer, but her mood was more stable and she generally felt happier. She also found that she was more organized, completing her projects more efficiently. I gave her Thuja 1M.
