My Personal Story And Review Of Dr Bronners Soaps

Some very simple evidence of why Dr Bronners soaps are the best: since using them in my homemade dishwashing liquid , my palms have become soft and moisturised, which is in stark contrast to the dry, cracked and flaky skin I experienced from using regular commercial dishwashing detergent, a result of the harsh chemicals found in them.

History Of Dr Bronner

In 1858, the Heilbronner family started making soap at home in Germany. They invented the first liquid castile soap, and sold bar soaps too. In 1908, Emanuel Heilbronner was born. He studied soapmaking, and had a university degree in chemistry. He was the 3rd generation in the family soap business. His strong personality and ideas for modern soapmaking led to clashes with his father and uncles, so he migrated to the U.S.

In the U.S., he was the advisor for various soap and chemical specialty manufacturers. With the rise of Hitler in the 1930s, he dropped Heil from his last name. In the 1940s, his parents were killed when the Nazis nationalised the family soap factory. Later, he adopted the honourable Dr in his name, which no one disputed, given his intensity, scientific knowledge and strong German accent.

In 1945, Dr Bronner escaped the Elgin State Insane Asylum after being institutionalised for his opinionated moral and religious views, that humanity should stand united as one and not let our differences rip the world apart.

1948 marked the founding of Dr Bronners brand of liquid castile soaps, bar soaps, along with some health food seasonings. He lectured on world peace and the unity of the entire human race, selling and giving away soap on the side.

Homemade Soap For Eczema Preparation

Before starting your homemade soap recipe, you first need to measure all the ingredients you will use in this recipe. This way, you dont need to worry about measuring the ingredients when you complete the following steps. Just measure and place these ingredients in separate containers.

To prepare lye solution, you need to carefully add sodium hydroxide crystals to purified water. While preparing your lye solutions, it is best to do this procedure outside or in a well-ventilated room. There will be heat as well as steam. You should avoid inhaling this steam. If you want, you can use an appropriate mask for this step.

While your lye solution is resting, you need to melt the oils like coconut oil, castor oil, olive oil and shea butter. Use a double boiler to melt these oils. If you dont have a double boiler, you can always improvise and melt them in your microwave.

If you are using a double boiler, you should constantly monitor the temperature of the oils. You just need to reach the temperature you need to melt the solid oils. You should reach 52°

After reaching this temperature, you can now mix this melted oil and lye solution. At this stage, any undissolved sodium hydroxide will dissolve due to heat of melted oil mixture.

Add neem oil and avocado oil inside the mixture.

Mix all the ingredients to achieve a consistent mixture.

Take your mould and pour this mixture inside them.

Your homemade soap for eczema is ready.

Vanicream, Cerave, or Dove would probably be the most gentle cleansing bars with the fewest ingredients that could potentially irritate your skin. Sometimes it can be hard to find them completely plastic free — like you might get a few bars in cardboard wrapped together in cellophane — but it’s still a lot less plastic than a couple bottles of bodywash.

Have a look at the shampoo conditioner post recently created, the ph makes a difference for us with dry skin so soaps arent often good. The only thing it doesnt mention that Im aware of is that soaps proper can be drying, detergents are more likely to cause an allergic reaction and with eczema it might be too risky to stray from whatever is medicated in plastic.
