Choosing The Right Type Of Diaper
Diaper rash can cause a great deal of discomfort for thebaby. Since the goal is to keep the skin dry, parents should choosediapers that are labeled as superabsorbent or ultra-absorbent. Theseprevent diaper rash better than older, regular absorbency diapers. Someparents prefer cloth diapers for reasons of economics, sanitation, orconservation, but disposables are far better than reusable cloth diapersin preventing diaper rash. If cloth diapers are used, they should neverbe covered by plastic pants, since the plastic keeps moisture trappedinside the diaper and makes diaper rash more likely.
During an active case of diaper rash, the skin is verysensitive. Most commercial diaper wipes should be avoided during thistime, as these products may contain chemicals that irritate the skinaffected by the rash. Immediate cleaning of the area with mild soap isthe safest alternative.

Behcet’s Disease And Oral Aphthosis
Behcet’s disease is a vasculopathic condition characterized by recurrent episodes of oral and genital ulcerations with positive pathergy test. Oral aphthae are another troublesome condition of obscure etiology characterized by recurrent painful oral ulcerations particularly in adolescents. Several treatment modalities including corticosteroids and immunosuppressants have been used with variable results. Sharquie et al. in a randomized, controlled, double-blind crossover trial comprising 30 subjects found oral zinc sulphate, 100mg given thrice daily for three months, to be an effective treatment modality for Behcet’s disease without any major adverse effects. They also found oral zinc sulphate useful in the treatment of recurrent oral aphthae in another double-blind placebo controlled study of 15 patients . Zinc sulphate had both therapeutic and prophylactic action as it also reduced the relapse rate in recurrent aphthae.

Managing Atopic Dermatitis Requires A Multifaceted Approach
Think of maintaining healthy atopic dermatitis skin as supported by a three-legged stool that simultaneously requires attention toward limiting bacteria, causes of inflammation, and itching/scratching. If you cant manage, maintain, or fight any of these individual things, you can worsen an already impaired skin barrier, which then causes problems in the other two areas. It becomes a vicious cycle of discomfort, leading to that eruption of fiery inflammation.

Hca Treatment For Anal Itching
In our office we band enlarged hemorrhoids and commonly use prescription anti-fungal creams for peri-anal skin infections. Hemorrhoid treatment is no longer to be feared or something to be embarrassed about. Get the help you need and deserve now.
The fungus or bacterial infection occurs because enlarged hemorrhoids open the rectum which leads to leakage of fluid. The area becomes difficult to keep dry and clean. Excess cleaning leads to traumatizing the skin. Our office banding treatment shrinks the hemorrhoids which allows for less leakage and better hygiene. The shrinking of the internal hemorrhoids allows for the rectum to close more efficiently. We will use topical Clotrimazole and 2% hydrocortisone, a prescription anti-fungal cream to help treat the itching, rash, and infection until the hemorrhoid banding can be completed. Mupirocin may be used if a bacterial infection is suspected. Our doctors can help you with custom compound medications. Occasionally, a skin culture is needed. The banding shrinks the hemorrhoids, which leads to less leakage and a cleaner dryer bottom.
Skin tags may trap stool particles and make proper hygiene difficult. They can be removed under local anesthesia. Banding cannot be done on external hemorrhoids or tags because of the large number of painful nerves on the skin of the rectum.
Rectal itching is a symptom, and it is important to find and treat the underlying condition.

Hsa Warns Against Using 4 Skin Creams For Diaper Rash Eczema After Baby Hospitalised
SINGAPORE – The Health Sciences Authority on Monday warned the public against buying or using four skin creams that were found to have undeclared potent ingredients.
This comes after an infant, who is less than a year old, developed Cushing’s syndrome after using an unlabelled cream from a traditional practitioner in Malaysia to treat diaper rash.
The other three creams were used by consumers to treat eczema.
In its statement, HSA named the eczema creams as D’Splendid Kidzema Cream, Clair De Lune P. Tuberose Day Cream and Clair De Lune S. Involcurata Night Cream.
Those who used the four creams experienced rapid relief of their condition, but it worsened when they stopped using them.
HSA tested the creams and found that they contained potent medicinal ingredients including steroids, antibiotics and antifungals.
The unlabelled product used on the infant was found to contain betamethasone valerate and clotrimazole .
She developed symptoms of Cushing’s syndrome due to the steroid and had symptoms such as developing a “moon-face” and – due to fat accumulation – a “buffalo hump” on the back, excessive hair growth on the body and thinning of the skin.
The steroid also led to recurrent infections, as it suppressed her immune system and caused poor developmental growth.
The baby was hospitalised but has since been discharged and is currently undergoing outpatient treatment.

Treat Scars Spots And Discoloration With Zinc Oxide
Our skin can get damaged in many ways. Wounds create scars, age creates liver spots, hormonal imbalances lead to discolored splotches, and sun damage may fade in a day or remain in the form of wrinkles or moles. Zinc oxide is the best, most natural response to this day-to-day damage. As weve seen, zinc oxide can heal open wounds, reducing the likelihood of scarring, but if a scar has already formed, zinc oxide can significantly reduce its appearance. Applying zinc oxide directly to discolored skin can fade the discoloration, as well.

Finding The Right Ointments/occlusives In A Sea Of Selections
There are many products designed to maintain skin moisture and it can be overwhelming to choose. Every now and then, I cruise through the pharmacy aisles, just to see the options for patients. The truly hypoallergenic products are not always organized together.
To help make the process a little less daunting, I recommend a few products that can help.
My favorite thing to talk about is actually vegetable shortening because most people dont think about using it to help their skin and its really inexpensive. If you think about what all these barrier compensation creams or ointments do, its to help seal the water into your skin once its already wet from the bath or the shower. Vegetable shortening does the same thing. If you have a lot of food allergies, however, make sure youre not allergic to the vegetable ingredients that the oil is derived from, because we cant speak to how well its purified.
Dermatologists also recommend petroleum jelly a lot because it is generally well tolerated, even for patients who are truly sensitive and for whom many products sting. Of course, petroleum jelly can be tricky in that its heavy, sticky, and can get onto furniture and clothing. So while smearing petroleum jelly all over the body can be particularly messy, I encourage applying it on what I call your hot spots, places on the body where the fire tends to recur, because those patches of skin are going to be the most sensitive to chemical irritants and other ingredients.
