Notes About Preservative Choices

MAKING BODY BUTTER FOR ECZEMA | VLOG

One of my favorite nature-derived preservatives is Leucidal SF Complete derived from Lactobacillus& coconut ferment, used at a 2 to 4% rate, which is 2 to 4 grams in this recipe.

It usually gives me a shelf life of at least 3 months, though Ive heard from a couple of readers whove only gotten about 1 month shelf life when using.

Handmade Neem Balm Recipe

Makes one 130g pot. Alternatively, you can purchase this similar product that I make myself. You can also make this balm along with all-natural neem oil soap. Its rich and creamy and gives you that dose of neem even while youre washing. The instructions make it pretty easy to make too.

* Some people may show sensitivity to Neem oil so please do a skin patch test to make sure its right for your skin. Please also avoid using Neem oil if you are pregnant or planning on becoming pregnant in the immediate future.

** For a more liquidy cream add more liquid oil in this recipe

*** 10g of Neem oil will result in quite a strong smelling and acting balm. If youd prefer, you can reduce the amount by half to 5g to mask the smell and create a gentler product. Please also note Neem can be quite strong and if its placed on the skin undiluted its possible that it can cause contact dermatitis.

When people ask us the name of the active ingredient in our Eczema formula, we say, “They’re All Active. It wouldnt make sense to use inactive ingredients.” With nutritional powerhouses like Organic African Shea, Organic Hempseed, and more, our Eczema Butter is pulled, by a humectant, deep into the skin. There, the ingredients actually feed the skin , exactly what they need, on a cellular level. With Vitamins A-K and a full line-up of much-needed skin support Minerals… the skin benefits from the very nutrition that it lacks, due to a nutrient-stripped diet. The lipids and naturally occurring ceramides found in this skin-barrier moisturizer form a protective layer to lock in pH-balanced moisture while blocking impurities, toxins, chemicals, makeup, body products, sweat, and a whole lot more. Our Eczema Butter formula allows Eczema skin to heal and become more resistant to symptoms, including burning sensation, dryness, and itch.

    How To Make Eczema Cream:

Begin by adding 6 tablespoons of cocoa butter, 6 tablespoons of shea butter, and 1/2 cup of coconut oil into the top pot of a double boiler. Fill the bottom pot with about 2 inches of water. Place the top pot over the bottom pot and heat butter and coconut oil until melted, mixing often with a whisk.

Once melted remove from heat and add 1 teaspoon of sweet almond oil and 1 tablespoon of vitamin E oil to the mixture. Whisk well to combine.

Cover and place mixture in the refrigerator for one hour or until firm.

Next, using a hand mixer, whip until creamy and light. Add 1/2 teaspoon lavender essential oil and mix again to blend. Spoon whipped body butter into airtight containers.

    NOTES:

    • Whipped body butter may seem extra moist after whipping, no worries it will firm up after a few minutes.
    • The last steps to chill and whip the butter together are essential for a smooth, silky cream. I know youll be dying to try it but dont skip the final steps.

    Ideas For Controlling Eczema

Homemade Eczema Body Butter With Aloe Vera

Along with our homemade eczema cream here are a few things weve done to help control her eczema:

    • Cutting down on bath frequency
    • Putting her on a dairy-free diet
    • Making our own mild laundry detergent
    • Having her sleep in long pants to minimize nighttime scratching
    • Keeping her skin moisturized

To keep her skin moisturized, we have tried nearly every lotion we could find. Even with all the products weve used, Ive never found an eczema cream that did anything but give her slightly softer eczema. Many store-bought eczema creams are petroleum-based, anyway, which means theyre not environmentally friendly and not as good for skin as their marketing claims. There are greener products available, but Ive never found them particularly effective, either.

This year Ive given up on store-bought brands and am making my own homemade eczema cream for her. Im able to use natural, plant-based ingredients and have a more effective lotion, too.

    How To Use Body Butter

Apply it on your skin, your legs, tummy, hands, heels, anywhere you want. Since its greasy, Id recommend you use it before you go to bed and let the combo of oils do their magic during the night. Your skin will feel soft, smooth, nourished, and very pleasant to the touch and look!

You can also apply it on damp skin and massage the butter into your skin that way you can boost the circulation, mix it with water to make the skin even softer, and enable it to soak up some water while the oils lock in moisture.

    Tea Tree Essential Oil

We shall be pairing lavender essential oil with tea tree, another essential oil that protects and heals eczema prone skin. It has anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antiseptic properties that help fight infection-causing germs and reduce itching and irritation.

This research showed that tea tree oil applied topically was significantly more effective at reducing eczema symptoms than zinc oxide and clobetasone butyrate creams

    How To Treat Eczema

Eczema is an inflammatory skin condition

Eczema treatments arent in any respect difficult to get started. While pharmaceutical treatments are helpful, they simply suppress symptoms but dont heal the source of the issue.

Theres no absolute treatment for eczema that works for everyone with the condition. However, there are various methods of fighting its symptoms.

For brief spans of time, steroid creams can be used as an eczema therapy. You might require an antibiotic cream prescription or other therapy, based on the assessment of your medical care provider.

As natural compounds of plants, essential oils have many homeopathic benefits that have been known to help with a range of skin issues. Rather than using cortisone-based products, you can decide on using essential oils instead.

I dumped toxic cosmetics 7 years ago when I started to develop different allergies.

First I ditched all processed foods and then I realized that I also need to get rid of all commercial cosmetics if I wanted to truly recover my health.

And thats how I started to make my own creams and whipped body butters. I could see visible results after only a couple of weeks.

Diy Eczema Cream With Colloidal Oatmeal

    • colloidal oatmeal soothing, protective and anti-inflammatory
    • shea butter emollient, anti-inflammatory
    • sunflower oil shown to repair skin barrier, improves hydration

Eczema is a miserable condition that causes skin to be intensely itchy and inflamed. Atopic dermatitis is one of the most common forms of eczema, so youll sometimes see the two terms interchanged.

I had severe eczema as a kid and still get the occasional flareup in winter, plus my son also suffered from eczema when younger, so Ive spent a lot of time trying different remedies out.

One of the keys to helping relieve the discomfort of eczema is to use a cream that soothes, moisturizes and helps protect the skins barrier. Its also important to use it consistently.

Treatment for eczema is very individualized what works well for one person, wont necessarily work well for another.

There are usually allergies and other factors to consider too, but heres one eczema cream recipe featuring colloidal oatmeal that you can try.

How To Use Shea Butter For Eczema

How To Make Whipped Body Butter – Great for Eczema / Full Length

Shea butter can be a wonderful option as a natural remedy for eczema. When it is applied to the skin, shea butter is known to absorb quickly while keeping the area moisturized. This is because it acts as a protective layer on the surface of the skin as it absorbs into and moisturizes the deeper layers.

Shea butter is also known to reduce swelling, which is something that some people with eczema experience. You can use shea butter as a moisturizer throughout the day or after your bath or shower. Pat the area dry and gently apply the shea butter to the affected area.

    Homemade Healing Eczema Balm

As far as skin conditions go, eczema has to be one of the worst. I had eczema as a kid, and although I was lucky enough to outgrow the roughest years of it, I still get a flare-up every so often. The inflammation and itch are bad enough, but Id say its the pain that makes it unbearable.

And like most skin conditions, doctors are quick to prescribe topical steroids and mystery creams to hopefully make it go away. If only Id known about this natural eczema balm back in the day, I might have saved myself years of misery.

Homemade Eczema Body Butter With Aloe Vera

When I was formulating my homemade eczema cream with aloe vera, there were some ingredients that I wanted and some that I didn’t.

I didn’t want water in my recipe. Water is obviously inexpensive, so it’s often the first ingredient in eczema creams and lotions.

I wanted a body butter because I wanted more oils and butters in my DIY eczema treatment instead of water.

Since this homemade eczema cream with aloe vera doesn’t have water in it, it doesn’t need a preservative.

If you’ve landed on this page, I’m guessing that you’re making this for personal reasons and probably don’t have a preservative on the shelf.

This body butter and other things I make help, but using the eczema wet wrap therapy has helped the most.

Formulating The Best Diy Whipped Body Butter For Dry Skin Relief

Unlike other recipes for whipped body butter, my homemade whipped body butter recipe omits coconut oil, which can cause breakouts, and opts for a carrier oil more favorable to dry skin if you have issues with acne. Sweet almond oil is not only excellent for dry skin relief, it is also suitable for all skin types including maturing skin, sensitive skin, normal skin and even oily skin.

However, if you have a nut allergy, avocado oil or olive oil are both deeply nourishing oils for dry skin. Alternately, if you prefer a less greasy whipped body butter that absorbs more quickly, try a dry carrier oil, which has quicker absorption rates, such as rosehip seed oil my favorite for mature skin! avocado oil, camelina oil, grapeseed, safflower and sunflower oil.

Additionally, unlike those simple 3-ingredient whipped body butter recipes, my whipped body recipe is emulsified. Formulated with the addition of a vegetable based emulsifying wax, my recipe for whipped body butter absorbs more quickly than traditional recipes. It also has a higher melting point. Not only is this helpful if need a rich moisturizer during warmer months, it also means your whipped butters hold their shape better than their predecessors. A plus if youre making natural skin care recipes to sell online or at craft fairs.
